Key info
- You must start the renewal process online at MyRWVP and then complete it within 21 days, verifying your identity using myServiceTas or by visiting a service centre. After 21 days your application will expire and you must start the process again.
- You can renew your RWVP when you receive your renewal reminder email or SMS. This will be sent up to 90 days before the expiry date. If you are a volunteer and want to upgrade to Employment/Volunteer, you can upgrade up to 365 days early.
- Due to the high volume of people renewing their RWVPs in 2026, your renewal may take longer than 6 weeks to be processed.
- It is encouraged that you renew early - as soon as your receive your RWVP renewal reminder email or SMS. The renewal will take effect from the date your current RWVP expires. For more information, visit our RWVP renewal information page.

About renewing a registration to work with vulnerable people
You will receive a renewal notice by email or SMS up to 90 days before your expiry date.
If your registration expires, you can still renew up to 30 days after your expiry date. Your registration will start from when your renewal is approved.
If you do not renew within 30 days from the expiry date, you will need to complete a new application. You will not be able to work or volunteer with vulnerable people until your renewal application is approved. Registration is valid for 5 years.
If your information has changed (such as a change in any relevant criminal history), your renewal may take longer to process.

Once you have completed your renewal application at myRWVP and paid your fee online, you must:
- Log in to your myServiceTas account to complete your RWVP identify verification (if you don't have a myServiceTas account, you can create one)
or
- Visit a service centre to have your identity verified in person. You can also pay the renewal fee, if you haven't already paid online

What you need to renew
You must start your renewal online at MyRWVP. There is a full list of the information you need at the start of the online renewal form.
You then have a choice of 2 options to verify your identity.
- If you use myServiceTas to verify your identity, you must
- log on and select RWVP identity verification
- accept the terms and conditions
- follow the prompts to upload your proof of identity documents.
- If you visit a service centre to verify your identity, you must:
- bring your confirmation code (if attending a booked appointment in Hobart or Launceston only)
- bring a copy of your online renewal receipt or the reference number
- provide your proof of identity documents (originals or certified copies) that match those selected in your application
- pay the renewal fee (if you haven't already paid online) and accept the terms and conditions if someone has filled out the form on your behalf.
Can I renew?
You must have a current registration to work with vulnerable people (or one that has expired within the last 30 days).
Proving your identity
myServiceTas
You must have your existing Registration to Work with Vulnerable People card to verify your identity using myServiceTas. You must also verify one document from each of the following lists to support your application.
- Full Australian birth certificate (not an extract or commemorative certificate) issued by Births, Deaths and Marriages
- Australian passport
- Australian Visa (current at time of entry to Australia as a resident or tourist, or a current Visa document). The corresponding passport to your visa must also be provided. If you do not have evidence of your current visa, please contact the Australian Department of Home Affairs.
- Australian Government issued ImmiCard showing your visa and/or migration status
- Australian citizenship certificate.
- Current Australian driver licence, learner permit and provisional licences issued by a state or territory are also accepted
- Australian marriage certificate (church or celebrant-issued certificates are not accepted)
Service Centre
When visiting a service centre you must provide 3 documents from the following lists to support your application - these documents must match those selected in your online application. All the documents must be current and the combination of documents must contain your:
- Given name and family name in full
- Date of birth
- Photograph.
If you bring copies of your original certificates they must be certified by a Commissioner for Declarations or a Justice of the Peace (JP).
You must have:
- One commencement of identity document
- One primary use in community document
- One secondary use in community document.
- Full Australian birth certificate (not an extract or commemorative certificate) issued by Births, Deaths and Marriages
- Australian passport
- Australian Visa (current at time of entry to Australia as a resident or tourist, or a current Visa document). The corresponding passport to your visa must also be provided. If you do not have evidence of your current visa, please contact the Australian Department of Home Affairs.
- Australian Government issued ImmiCard showing your visa and/or migration status
- Australian citizenship certificate.
If you were born in Australia and do not have a commencement in the community document, please get a certificate from the Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages in the state or territory where you were born.
- Current Australian driver licence, learner permit and provisional licences issued by a state or territory are also accepted
- Current overseas passport with a valid entry stamp or visa
- Current proof of age or photo identity card issued by an Australian Government agency in the name of the applicant, with a photo
- Current student identification card with a signature or photo (for persons under 18 years of age with no other primary identification documents).
- Tasmanian Registration to Work with Vulnerable People card
- Medicare card
- Australian security guard or crowd control photo licence
- Department of Veteran Affairs or Centrelink pensioner concession card (card or interim letter are suitable evidence - statements will not be accepted)
- Photo identity card issued by the Australian Defence Force
- Photo identity card issued to an officer by a police force
- Photo identity card issued by the Australian Government or a state or territory government (may be a working with children or vulnerable people card or a government issued occupational licence)
- Australian secondary or tertiary (university of Tafe) student photo identity card
- Certified academic transcript from an Australian university or a registered higher education provider
- Bank card or credit card issued by an Australian bank, credit union or building society
- Australian Electoral Commission enrolment
- Australian aviation security identification card
- Australian maritime security identification card
- Australian firearms licence
- Certificate of identity issued by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade to refugees and non-Australian citizens for entry to Australia
- Document of identity issued by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade to Australian citizens or persons who have the nationality of a Commonwealth country for travel purposes
- Convention travel document secondary (United Nations) issued by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade
- Consular photo identity card issued by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade
- Overseas government issued documents (for example, drivers licence)
- Credit reference check
- Trusted referees report.
All proof of identity documents must show your full name. If you have changed your name and the documents show your old name, you must also show one of these documents:
- Change of name registration issued by Births, Deaths and Marriages, deed poll or overseas issuing authority
- Marriage certificate issued by Births, Deaths and Marriages (or interstate/overseas registry office equivalent). Church or celebrant issued certificates are not accepted
- Divorce papers issued by court, showing your original name
- Guardianship order
- Relationship certificate
- Adoption papers issued by court.

- Your online renewal won't be processed until you have:
- completed the online application form
- agreed to the terms and conditions
- paid the registration fee, and
- verified your identity using myServiceTas or at a service centre
- Please allow up to 6 weeks to receive the outcome of your renewal.
- You cannot apply for an NDIS endorsement if you do not have an NDIS employer.
- Once you have completed the renewal process, your registration is still valid while your renewal is being processed.
