- You must apply to register the vehicle in Tasmania within 3 months of arrival. Details are listed in the Registration Checklist (PDF, 118KB). You must have the vehicle inspected at an approved inspection station (AIS).
- Once your vehicle has passed inspection, you can visit a service centre to register. You must bring the passed AIS inspection report, proof of entitlement and your Tasmanian licence or proof of identity. Payment must also be made.
- After your vehicle has been registered in Tasmania you can contact the interstate authority, where the vehicle was previously registered, and apply for a refund of that remaining registration.
