  • You must renew your accreditation every 3 years.
  • You must prove you still have competency for the classes you want to assess by providing a copy of your assessor accreditation.

    About renewing, replacing or adding a class for accreditation as a high risk work licence assessor

    You must be accredited by WorkSafe Tasmania to be a high risk work licence assessor.

    This allows you to do competency assessments and issue assessment summaries and interim high risk work licences.

    How to renew, replace or add

    What you need to renew, replace or add

    To renew

    You must show that you still have the competency for the high risk work class you want to assess. You can do this by showing the number of assessments you have done during your accreditation, or by providing the items below at a service centre:

    • letters from employers or persons conducting businesses you've done relevant high risk work for
    • contracts showing you've been engaged to do the relevant high risk work
    • work diaries or logbooks you've kept while doing the relevant high risk work
    • written proof from a registered training organisation confirming your experience in demonstrating and operating the relevant high risk work plant in a training environment.

    You must also provide:

    • a completed application form (PDF, 1.03MB)
    • your current high risk assessor card
    • your current high risk work licence
    • a copy of your assessor accreditation document
    • a letter showing proof of your connection with a registered training organisation in the high risk work licence field.

    To add a class

    You must provide:

    • a completed application form (PDF, 1.03MB)
    • your current high risk assessor card
    • your current high risk work licence card
    • a copy of your assessor accreditation document
    • copies of supporting documentation and
    • a letter showing proof of your connection with a registered training organisation in the high risk work licence field.

    To replace your assessor card

    You must provide:

    • a completed application form (PDF, 968KB)
    • your current high risk work licence card, or
    • proof of identity.

    Can I renew, replace or add?

    Assessments for high risk work licences must be done for, or on behalf of, a registered training organisation (RTO).

    You must:

    • be a RTO, or
    • be employed by or contracted with a RTO, or
    • work in partnership with a RTO.

    Included in your application, you must provide proof of your RTO connection with evidence that they can deliver training in the high risk work licence assessor field.

    For renewals you must:

    • still have competency for the high risk work class you want to continue to assess.

    To add a class/es you must:

    • have at least 12 months operational and industry experience in the class you would like to add.

    To replace:

    • you can replace the licence if your card is damaged, lost, destroyed or stolen.

    Proving your identity

    You must provide 3 documents from the following lists to support your application. All documents must be:

    • current
    • the originals (not photocopies or certified copies)

    At least one document shall show current residential address, photograph, signature and date of birth.

    You must have:

    • One document from category A and 2 documents from category B, or
    • Two documents from category A and one document from category B.

    • Birth certificate (not an extract)
    • Citizenship papers
    • Passport
    • Driver licence
    • Firearm licence
    • Department of Immigration and Multicultural Affairs issued travel documents, including a visa
    • Department of Immigration and Multicultural Affairs issued certificate of evidence of residential status.

    • Medicare card
    • Plastic bank or credit card, with signature
    • Tertiary student card
    • Department of Veterans' Affairs or Centrelink Pensioner Concession card
    • Births Deaths and Marriages change of name or marriage certificate (to prove name change)
    • Security guard or crowd controller licence
    • Government issued personal photo ID card.

    More Information

    • If you're an accredited assessor in another state, you must still apply to WorkSafe Tasmania before you can assess high risk work in Tasmania.
    • If you change your address or contact details, you must notify WorkSafe Tasmania in writing within 14 days.
    • If your card is lost, stolen, or destroyed you must notify WorkSafe Tasmania in writing as soon as possible.
