About notifying of a manifest quantity workplace (MQW)
You must notify WorkSafe Tasmania if you are running a manifest quantity workplace.
You must also:
- manage risks to health and safety associated with the hazardous chemicals
- keep an up-to-date register of hazardous chemicals
- provide correct labelling, safe handling and access to safety data sheets for hazardous chemicals
- ensure there is appropriate placarding in place
- maintain an up-to-date manifest of the hazardous chemicals on-site, for use by emergency services
- submit a notification of a manifest quantity workplace application to a service centre, by post or email, along with a copy of your manifest.
You must also notify WorkSafe if:
- there is a change of person running the MQW
- your quantity of Schedule 11 hazardous chemicals no longer exceeds MQW quantities
- there is a significant change to the risk of using, handling or storing of hazardous chemicals.

- provide a completed application form (PDF, 2MB)
- provide a copy of the manifest (examples of a manifest are on the application form)
- pay a fee.
To apply by post or email you must:
- provide a completed application form (PDF, 2MB)
- provide a copy of the manifest (examples of a manifest are on the application form)
- provide payment by Visa or Mastercard.
Can I notify?
You can apply if you are the person running the manifest quantity workplace.
Proving your identity
You do not need to prove your identity.
