- Once your 'Category A, Reason 6' (A6) firearms licence has been approved, you will be sent an application form to apply for a certificate of registration as a paintball operator.
- You must apply at a service centre.

About applying for a paintball operator registration
Tasmania Police will inspect your firearms storage, usually within a week of your application being submitted.
TasTAFE will also do a range inspection as part of the application process.
Once you get the certificate of registration as a paintball operator you can legally begin business.

What you need to apply
You must provide:
- a completed application form (that was sent to you)
- your firearms licence with A6 endorsement
- proof of identity
- payment
- supporting documentation, including proof of:
- council approval to operate a paintball business at a designated location
- business name and address
- indemnity insurance
- Australian Company Number
- first aid qualifications, and
- ownership of a ballistic chronograph.
Can I apply?
You can apply if you:
- have a firearms licence with an A6 endorsement, and
- satisfy the inspections of the range and firearms storage facilities.
Proving your identity
You must show documents amounting to 100 points when lodging.
These documents must be originals (not photocopies or certified copies)
You can only show one of these
- Passport (70 points)
- Citizenship certificate (70 points)
- Birth certificate (70 points).
- Licence issued under law - a driver licence or current gun licence (40 points)
- Employment ID - card issued by employer with your name and address only (35 points)
- Employment ID - card issued by employer with your name only (25 points)
- Letter from employer within last 2 years confirming name and address (35 points)
- Rates notice (35 points)
- Credit or debit cards/passbooks - only one allowed per institution (25 points)
- Medicare card (25 points)
- Membership card - club, union, trade or professional bodies (25 points)
- Membership card - educational institution (25 points).
If you arrived in Australia less than 6 weeks ago, your passport is worth 100 points.
