Key info
- You must have a permit to hold a fireworks display on cracker night.
- Cracker Night falls on 24 May each year. If this date is not a Saturday, the following Saturday will apply.
- All other fireworks displays must be performed by a pyrotechnician.

Fireworks displays held without a permit are illegal and attract large fines.

What you need to apply
To apply you must visit a service centre and:
- provide a completed application form (PDF, 1.5MB) provided by WorkSafe Tasmania ahead of cracker night each year
- provide photo identification showing your date of birth
- pay a fee.

Anyone over 18 can apply.
