Key info

  • The private keeping of any imported wildlife (other than some caged bird species) is not permitted in Tasmania.
  • Only holders of a wildlife exhibition licence or a suitable scientific research facility can apply to import wildlife (other than some caged bird species) into Tasmania.
  • You must lodge your application form (PDF, 865KB) with Wildlife Management by emailing Wildlife.Services@nre.tas.gov.au or by post to GPO Box 44 Hobart, TAS 7001.
  • There is no fee to apply.
