  • In Tasmania, if your wheelchair or mobility scooter is not able to go faster than 10 km/h, it does not need to be registered and no licence is required.
  • If your device is not able to go faster than 10km/h, it is classified as a pedestrian and must obey pedestrian laws. It is required to be driven on footpaths and is subject to pedestrian rules for crossing roads.
  • If your wheelchair or mobility scooter can go faster than 10 km/h it cannot be used on public streets.
