- There are a few situations where you can apply for a duty exemption on a vehicle registration.
- Common exemptions include: deceased estate exemptions, relationship breakdown exemptions, company deregistration exemptions and motor vehicle dealers and traders exemptions.
- To apply for a relationship breakdown or company deregistration exemption, please email dutyhelp@treasury.tas.gov.au.
- To apply for a deceased estate exemption, please visit a Service Centre with the required evidence. For motor vehicle dealer and trader exemptions, you will need a motor dealer vehicle licence or an exception certificate.
