Report an abandoned vehicle

Key info

• A vehicle may be considered abandoned if it is burnt out, has no number plates, or is unregistered and parked on the road. It could also be registered, but has not moved for a significant time.
• Abandoned vehicles are investigated by Tasmania Police. State and Local Government have different procedures for dealing with abandoned vehicles.
• If you wish to report an abandoned vehicle, please contact Tasmania Police. You will need details such as location, vehicle type and registration number.
• If Tasmania Police deem the vehicle to be abandoned, they will forward the details to the relevant Council or the Department of State Growth.
