  • A vision impaired travel pass provides free travel (in Tasmania) on some public transport services for people who are vision impaired.
  • Free travel applies to the holder of the pass, their guide dog and/or their attendant.
  • The pass is valid for 5 years.
  • If your application is successful, you will be notified within 10 business days.

    About applying for or renewing a vision impaired travel pass

    You can apply for or renew a pass at a service centre, by email, or by post.

    When your pass is close to its expiry date, you must apply for a new one by completing an application form (PDF, 499KB) and selecting the renewal option.

    You will not receive any renewal reminders and your pass will not be renewed automatically.

    Incomplete applications cannot be processed, including those submitted with unsuitable photos. You can have a digital photo taken at a service centre.

    What you need to apply or renew

    To apply you must:

    • complete an application form (PDF, 499KB)
    • provide proof of your Tasmanian residential address
    • provide proof of your visual impairment by:
      • providing a copy of your current concession card issued on the basis of vision impairment, or
      • having your ophthalmologist complete the ophthalmologist assessment and details section of the application form
    • provide a colour passport-size photo.

    To renew you must:

    • complete Part A of the application form (PDF, 499KB)
    • provide proof of your visual impairment by:
      • providing a copy of your current concession card issued on the basis of vision impairment, or
      • having your ophthalmologist complete the ophthalmologist assessment and details section of the application form
    • provide a colour passport-size photo.

      You must:

      You do not need to provide proof of identity, however you must provide proof of your Tasmanian address.

      There is no cost associated with this service.

      There is no payment required for this service.
