What to look for at a business

You can use your card at a participating affiliate business. Only a business who is an affiliate of the Companion Card is required to provide a ticket at no charge for your companion. Not all businesses participate in the Companion Card program.

An affiliate business might have the Companion Card logo or graphic on their business window or website.

How do I book a ticket using my Companion Card?

Different venues might have different options for you to book your tickets. This can include:

Over the phone

When you book over the phone you might need to:

  • tell the operator you also need a Companion Card ticket
  • give them your name
  • give them your card number and expiry date
  • collect your tickets in person at the event.

Online

Some businesses might have an option to book your companion ticket online when you purchase your ticket. You might need to:

  • look for ‘accessible’ or ‘companion’ tickets on the website or in the booking portal
  • provide your name
  • provide your card number and expiry date
  • collect your tickets in person at the event.

In person

When you purchase your ticket in person you need to:

  • tell the salesperson you also need a Companion Card ticket
  • show your card.

Remember to bring your card with you when you attend the event.

About using your Companion Card:

  • you should not be charged a booking fee for your Companion ticket
  • you’re entitled to a Companion ticket, even if you’re buying a concession ticket
  • the venue should ensure your companion is seated close to you
  • some additional components to admission can be covered by the card if you require assistance in order to participate (for example, a fee for rides, in addition to an entry fee at a fun park)
  • cards may be used to purchase a package deal that combines admission costs with other components such as meals etc.  When booking a package deal, you should check with the venue/activity operator to find out what’s included with the Companion ticket.
