Overview
The Tasmanian Government is committed to ensuring all Tasmanians have access to healthy and nutritious food. That is why the Tasmanian Government has developed Food Relief to Food Resilience – Tasmanian Food Security Strategy 2021-24. The Strategy directly supports place-based solutions to increasing food security.
Community gardens are critical to providing Tasmanians’ access to free or low-cost fresh, nutritious food. Community gardens provide an opportunity for people to come together and participate in community life, connect with the environment, and develop valuable skills.
To support community food resilience and strengthen food systems the Neighbourhood Houses Community Garden Grant Program will provide funding for essential community garden equipment, supplies and infrastructure that will support Neighbourhood Houses to increase community food access and food security through their gardens.
