Overview
The Southern Place-Based Food Resilience Grant Program (the Grant Program) will provide funding to an eligible organisation to deliver a place-based pilot in southern Tasmania to assist in moving from food relief to food resilience.
The Grant Program is a key action from the Food Relief to Food Resilience Action Plan 2023-2025 (the action plan) and aligns with Tasmania’s Food Resilience Strategy 2025-2031. The action plan committed to three place-based pilots to deliver community-led solutions to assist in moving from food relief to food resilience by developing sustainable solutions that meet community needs.
Two place-based pilots have commenced:
- North-West: A Social Supermarket and Café model called ‘Make it Fresh’ managed by Gran’s Van.
- North: A hybrid mobile and place-based food hub and social supermarket in Launceston called ‘LIFE – Launceston Independent Food Enterprise’.
Applications for this Grant Program should demonstrate how they will:
- Increase access to affordable, quality and nutritious food to Tasmanians
- Address diversity, choice and culturally appropriate food options
- Collaborate with other local organisations that support place-based food resilience
- Deliver meaningful, practical or lasting benefits to the place of the service
- Build the capacity of the pilot project to become sustainable in the future.

The successful applicant will receive $210,000 (GST exclusive) towards their pilot.
