Overview

In 2025, the Tasmanian Government released Our Inclusive Island: Tasmania's LGBTIQA+ Strategy 2025-26 (the strategy).

The strategy reflects the Tasmanian Government’s commitment to a Tasmania where LGBTIQA+ people are safe, healthy, visible and valued – living with dignity, belonging and pride.

In 2025-26, the LGBTIQA+ Grants Program (the Grants Program) will provide total funding of $65,000 to support community organisations, tertiary institutions and Local Government to:

  • Build capacity of the LGBTIQA+ community.
  • Foster inclusion, respect and dignity for LGBTIQA+ Tasmanians.
  • Enhance access to services and increase participation for LGBTIQA+ Tasmanians.

Category 1: Priority Projects

If you're eligible, please demonstrate how the project will achieve one or more of the following outcomes for trans, non-binary and gender diverse young people:

  • Greater inclusion, acceptance and belonging through community connection activities.
  • Increased understanding of the harm caused to individuals and community through prejudice and discrimination.
  • Enhanced leadership capacity among trans, non-binary and gender diverse young people.

Category 2: General Community Projects

If you're eligible, please demonstrate how the project will achieve one or more of the following outcomes:

  • Increased understanding of issues affecting the LGBTIQA+ community in Tasmania.
  • Increased community awareness of the issues and needs of LGBTIQA+ Tasmanians or for prevention of their discrimination, vilification and harassment.
  • Increased awareness of LGBTIQA+ issues and needs in Tasmanian workplaces.
  • Reduced barriers for LGBTIQA+ Tasmanians in accessing services related to sexuality, gender or intersex status.
  • Greater celebration and inclusion of LGBTIQA+ Tasmanians in the wider community, particularly in rural and regional communities.

Please note, you are not required to demonstrate that your project achieves all outcomes.

Funding Available

The total funding pool available through the Grants Program is $65 000.

Funding is available of between $1,000 to $30,000 (GST exclusive) under each stream. Projects are expected to be completed by 30 June 2027.
