Overview
The Office of Aboriginal Affairs leads and supports Aboriginal Community Controlled Aboriginal Organisations with the Closing the Gap Capacity building Funding Program for the Tasmanian Government. The Tasmanian Government is committed to delivering better outcomes for Tasmanian Aboriginal people and their families, in partnership with Tasmanian Aboriginal people.
The new National Agreement on Closing the Gap - developed in partnership between governments and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people - recognises that Aboriginal people are best placed to determine and deliver services to meet their needs and cultural requirements.
To achieve this priority, the Tasmanian Government has established the Closing the Gap Capacity Building Funding Program, with a total funding pool of $5.3 million. Funding will be available to Aboriginal Community-Controlled Organisations to build their capacity to co-design and deliver programs and services for Aboriginal people, by Aboriginal People.
