Commonwealth Government National Relay Service
An Australian Government initiative, the NRS is an Australia-wide telephone access service provided for people who are deaf or have a hearing or speech impairment. Options include internet relay calls, speak and read calls, type and listen, type and read, speak and listen (speech-to-speech relay) services
State Government Orthotic and Prosthetic Services Tasmania (OPST)
Information on the OPST, a service of the Department of Health and Human Services, which assists in the treatment and rehabilitation of clients through the provision of orthotic, prosthetic, and special seating services
State Government Spectacles Assistance Scheme (Department of Education) (PDF file)
Details of the assistance available to eligible students for the purchase of standard frames and lenses for full-time students from kindergarten through to senior secondary level. Application forms are available from participating optometrists (list available online)
State Government Spectacles Assistance Service
The Department of Health and Human Services' Spectacles Assistance Scheme provides financial assistance for the purchase of spectacles to those people who meet the eligibility criteria
State Government Wheelchair licence
Drivers of registered wheelchairs which can exceed 10 km/h require either a car or motor cycle licence to drive the wheelchair on public streets, including footpaths
State Government Wheelchairs
Wheelchairs require registration as a light vehicle or a motorcycle if they are used on public streets (including footpaths) and can exceed a speed of 10 km/h
