State Government Agency Disability Action Plans
The Tasmanian Disability Framework for Action (DFA) requires each government agency to prepare a Disability Action Plan which sets out how the needs of people with disability will be considered in the design and delivery of agency policies, programs, services and facilities. Commonwealth Government Australian Disability Enterprises
National database of businesses that come under the Australian Government (FaHCSIA) sponsored Australian Disability Enterprises umbrella. These commercial enterprises provide employment opportunities for people with disability. They operate across a wide range of industries - from design, printing and packaging, to manufacturing, laundry and landscaping. (Search is set to show Tasmanian businesses)
Commonwealth Government Commonwealth Respite and Carelink Centres
Commonwealth Respite and Carelink Centres are information centres for older people, people with disabilities, and those who provide care and services. They provide free and confidential information on community aged care, disability and other support services available locally or interstate
State Government Companion Card (Tasmania)
Details of the Companion Card, available to people who require a permanent carer, which allows the carer access to many community events and entertainments for free. Registration details are provided
Commonwealth Government Disability and Carers (Department of Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs)
FaHCSIA site with details of grants, funding, programs and other information to support carers of people with a disability or severe medical condition, or those who are frail or aged
State Government Disability and Community Services (Health and Human Services)
Information on the unit within the Department of Health and Human Services, which provides a range of services to support people with disabilities, as well as family support, neighbourhood houses, gambling and sexual assault support
State Government Guardianship and Administration Board
The Guardianship and Administration Board is an independent statutory Board with the power to make decisions affecting the lives and property of people with decision making disabilities
State Government Home and Community Care (HACC) Program
Details of the program providing funding to both the government and non-government sectors to enable them to deliver a range of community care services. The objective of the program is to enhance the independence of the frail aged and younger people with disabilities, and to avoid their premature admission to long term residential care
Commonwealth Government Innovation Fund (Australian Government)
The Innovation Fund is a component of the Australian Government's Job Services Australia. It is designed to to address the needs of the most disadvantaged job seekers through the funding of projects that foster innovative solutions to overcoming barriers to employment. Commonwealth Government JobAccess
Australian Government initiative providing advice, information and support for job seekers with a disability and for employers who are interested in employing, or currently employing, people with a disability
Local Government Kentish Council: Social Inclusion Window Label
Details an initiative by the Kentish Social Inclusion Action Group to encourage acceptance and equity in the community through the display of a social inclusion label in local business windows. Includes a link to a printable application form
Local Government Kingborough disability access
Information on disability access in the Kingborough municipality, including access maps, beach wheelchair information, action plan, and advisory body
Commonwealth Government National Auslan Interpreter Booking and Payment Service (NABS)
NABS provides interpreters to any person who uses sign language to communicate and would like an interpreter for private medical appointments. Services operate Australia-wide and are free of charge
Commonwealth Government National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS)
NDIS will be aimed at those who are most in need, providing long term, high quality support for around 410,000 people who have a permanent disability that significantly affects their communication, mobility, self-care or self-management. Includes link to a have your say forum
State Government Office of the Public Guardian
Information on the functions of the Public Guardian's Office, which promotes, speaks for and protects the rights and interests of people with disabilities. Includes information on enduring guardianship, and enduring powers of attorney
Commonwealth Government People with a disability (Department of Human Services)
Information and services available to help people who have an illness, injury or a disability. There is also support to assist their families or carers
State Government Premier's Disability Advisory Council (PDAC)
Details of the Council, established to assist the Premier and the government with the implementation of the Disability Framework for Action plan
